Productivity coach app

A productivity coach that works from your actual goals and progress

UpTicker brings your goals, tasks, habits, routines and productivity data together so AI can give more relevant guidance about what to focus on next.

The aim is not generic motivation. It is task-focused feedback that helps you make better decisions about execution.

A coaching loop built around action

Useful coaching starts with context, observes what happened and turns that evidence into a better next decision.

1

Give the coach context

Set your goals, priorities, habits and routines so guidance can be grounded in what you are actually trying to achieve.

2

Execute and record

Complete actions and generate real progress data through tasks, consistency and productivity scoring.

3

Use feedback to adjust

Review patterns and personalised guidance to decide what should stay, change or become the next priority.

Coaching tied to your behaviour, not generic advice

UpTicker is designed to make the coaching layer more useful by giving it the context produced by the rest of your productivity system.

Personalised guidance

Use your own goals and activity as context instead of receiving the same productivity advice as everyone else.

Next Best Action

Help identify the action that appears most relevant to moving your priorities forward.

Progress analysis

Turn scores, completion patterns and consistency into evidence you can use when reviewing performance.

Task-focused feedback

Keep feedback centred on actions, routines and execution rather than treating a productivity metric as a judgement of personal worth.

Advice becomes more useful when it has context

A generic coach can suggest common productivity tactics. UpTicker is designed to combine coaching with the record of your goals and execution.

Generic productivity advice

  • Often applies the same framework to everyone
  • May not know what you completed yesterday
  • Usually sits separately from your task system
  • Feedback can become vague or person-focused

UpTicker

  • Uses your goals, tasks, routines and habits as context
  • Connects guidance with recorded progress
  • Surfaces next actions alongside the execution system
  • Focuses feedback on behaviour and task performance

Research-informed design

Why the quality of goals, monitoring and feedback matters

UpTicker's coaching approach is informed by established research showing that clear goals, implementation planning and progress monitoring can support goal attainment, while poorly directed feedback can sometimes reduce performance.

These papers study behavioural principles such as planning, goal setting, progress monitoring, feedback and habit formation. They are not trials of UpTicker and should not be read as evidence that UpTicker itself has been scientifically validated.

A meta-analysis found that interventions increasing progress monitoring improved goal attainment on average (d = 0.40), with larger effects when progress was physically recorded or reported publicly.

How this informs UpTicker: UpTicker makes progress visible through completed actions, productivity scores, streaks and trends instead of relying on memory alone.

Harkin et al. (2016), Psychological Bulletin, 142(2), 198–229

Goal-setting research consistently finds that specific, difficult goals tend to produce higher performance than vague or easy goals such as simply asking people to 'do their best', when people are committed and have the ability and resources required.

How this informs UpTicker: UpTicker encourages users to define meaningful goals clearly and connect everyday work to those goals rather than treating every task as equally important.

Locke & Latham (2002), American Psychologist, 57(9), 705–717

A meta-analysis of 607 feedback effects found that feedback improved performance on average (d = 0.41), but more than one third of feedback interventions reduced performance. Effects became weaker as attention moved away from the task and toward the self.

How this informs UpTicker: UpTicker is designed to focus feedback on actions, routines and progress. A productivity score is information about execution, not a judgement of the user's character.

Kluger & DeNisi (1996), Psychological Bulletin, 119(2), 254–284

In a real-world habit study, time to reach 95% of each participant's automaticity plateau ranged from 18 to 254 days, with a widely reported median of 66 days. Missing one opportunity did not materially affect the habit-formation process.

How this informs UpTicker: UpTicker treats consistency as a long-term process. A 90-day goal can provide a useful planning horizon, but it is not presented as a scientific threshold for forming a habit, and one missed day need not erase longer-term progress.

Frequently asked questions

What is a productivity coach app?

A productivity coach app helps users improve how they plan, prioritise and execute. UpTicker combines this with AI guidance based on goals, routines, tasks, habits and progress data.

Is UpTicker's AI coach a human coach?

No. It is software that provides AI-generated guidance. It should not be treated as a substitute for professional medical, psychological, legal or financial advice.

Does the productivity score grade me as a person?

No. The score is intended to reflect execution data. UpTicker's design keeps the focus on actions and progress rather than making claims about a user's character or worth.
