AI to-do list app

An AI to-do list that helps you decide what matters next

UpTicker combines task management with goals, routines, habits, productivity scoring and personalised AI guidance.

Instead of becoming another place where tasks accumulate, UpTicker is designed to connect what you do today with what you are trying to achieve long term.

From a long task list to focused execution

A useful to-do list should reduce decision friction, not create another backlog to manage.

1

Start with the goal

Give UpTicker context about the outcome you want, not only a list of disconnected tasks.

2

Prioritise the actions

Structure tasks and routines around importance so the next useful action is easier to identify.

3

Record what happened

Complete actions, track consistency and use your productivity data to improve the next plan.

More than checkboxes

UpTicker keeps the simplicity of a task list while adding context that helps execution.

Next Best Action

Use your goals and priorities to help surface the actions most relevant to moving forward.

Weighted tasks

Recognise that completing one high-impact action can matter more than clearing several low-value items.

Routines and habits

Turn recurring priorities into a repeatable structure instead of rebuilding the same list every day.

Progress insights

Use scores, trends and consistency data to see whether your execution is improving over time.

A task list stores work. UpTicker connects work to outcomes.

Traditional task managers are useful for remembering what needs doing. UpTicker is designed for the additional problem of deciding what deserves attention and learning from execution.

Traditional to-do list

  • Stores tasks and reminders
  • Usually treats tasks as independent items
  • Completion is often the main signal
  • Prioritisation is largely manual

UpTicker

  • Connects actions to goals and routines
  • Lets task importance influence productivity scoring
  • Combines execution with progress monitoring
  • Adds personalised AI guidance around what to do next

Research-informed design

Why planning, monitoring and feedback matter

UpTicker's product design draws on established findings in goal setting, implementation intentions, progress monitoring, feedback and habit formation.

These papers study behavioural principles such as planning, goal setting, progress monitoring, feedback and habit formation. They are not trials of UpTicker and should not be read as evidence that UpTicker itself has been scientifically validated.

A meta-analysis found that interventions increasing progress monitoring improved goal attainment on average (d = 0.40), with larger effects when progress was physically recorded or reported publicly.

How this informs UpTicker: UpTicker makes progress visible through completed actions, productivity scores, streaks and trends instead of relying on memory alone.

Harkin et al. (2016), Psychological Bulletin, 142(2), 198–229

Goal-setting research consistently finds that specific, difficult goals tend to produce higher performance than vague or easy goals such as simply asking people to 'do their best', when people are committed and have the ability and resources required.

How this informs UpTicker: UpTicker encourages users to define meaningful goals clearly and connect everyday work to those goals rather than treating every task as equally important.

Locke & Latham (2002), American Psychologist, 57(9), 705–717

A meta-analysis of 607 feedback effects found that feedback improved performance on average (d = 0.41), but more than one third of feedback interventions reduced performance. Effects became weaker as attention moved away from the task and toward the self.

How this informs UpTicker: UpTicker is designed to focus feedback on actions, routines and progress. A productivity score is information about execution, not a judgement of the user's character.

Kluger & DeNisi (1996), Psychological Bulletin, 119(2), 254–284

In a real-world habit study, time to reach 95% of each participant's automaticity plateau ranged from 18 to 254 days, with a widely reported median of 66 days. Missing one opportunity did not materially affect the habit-formation process.

How this informs UpTicker: UpTicker treats consistency as a long-term process. A 90-day goal can provide a useful planning horizon, but it is not presented as a scientific threshold for forming a habit, and one missed day need not erase longer-term progress.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI to-do list app?

An AI to-do list app uses information about your tasks and context to do more than store reminders. UpTicker uses goals, routines, habits and progress data to support prioritisation and personalised guidance.

Is UpTicker a replacement for a normal task manager?

It can be used to manage daily actions, but its focus is broader: connecting those actions to goals, routines, consistency and measurable progress.

Does UpTicker automatically decide everything for me?

No. AI guidance is intended to support your judgement. You remain responsible for your goals, priorities and decisions.
