AI daily planner

Plan your day around the goals that actually matter

UpTicker helps translate larger goals into practical daily actions, routines and priorities, then uses your execution data to improve what comes next.

The aim is not to fill every minute. It is to make the important work visible before lower-value activity takes over the day.

A daily planning loop built for execution

Good planning should answer what matters today, when it fits, and whether it actually happened.

1

Choose the outcome

Start from the goal or priority you are trying to move forward rather than from an empty calendar.

2

Turn it into today's actions

Break the outcome into practical tasks, habits and routines that can fit into the day you actually have.

3

Review the evidence

Use completed actions, productivity scores and trends to see whether your plan translated into execution.

A planner that learns from what you do

UpTicker combines daily planning with the behavioural data produced when you execute the plan.

Goal-linked planning

Keep daily work connected to longer-term outcomes so urgency does not automatically outrank importance.

Routine structure

Build recurring actions into a repeatable framework instead of recreating the same plan every morning.

Priority guidance

Use importance and context to help identify the actions most worth doing next.

Daily score and trends

Record execution and compare performance across days, weeks and months rather than judging a day from memory.

A calendar tells you when. UpTicker also asks why.

Scheduling is useful, but a full calendar can still be strategically weak. UpTicker is designed to connect time and tasks with goals, routines and measurable execution.

Traditional daily planner

  • Organises appointments and tasks
  • Shows what is scheduled
  • Often measures completion only
  • Requires you to decide priority from scratch

UpTicker

  • Connects daily actions to larger goals
  • Combines planning with routines and habits
  • Uses weighted productivity scoring
  • Uses progress data to support personalised AI guidance

Research-informed design

The behavioural science behind a stronger daily plan

Several established findings support the principles of specifying actions, setting clear goals, recording progress and keeping feedback focused on behaviour rather than identity.

These papers study behavioural principles such as planning, goal setting, progress monitoring, feedback and habit formation. They are not trials of UpTicker and should not be read as evidence that UpTicker itself has been scientifically validated.

A meta-analysis found that interventions increasing progress monitoring improved goal attainment on average (d = 0.40), with larger effects when progress was physically recorded or reported publicly.

How this informs UpTicker: UpTicker makes progress visible through completed actions, productivity scores, streaks and trends instead of relying on memory alone.

Harkin et al. (2016), Psychological Bulletin, 142(2), 198–229

Goal-setting research consistently finds that specific, difficult goals tend to produce higher performance than vague or easy goals such as simply asking people to 'do their best', when people are committed and have the ability and resources required.

How this informs UpTicker: UpTicker encourages users to define meaningful goals clearly and connect everyday work to those goals rather than treating every task as equally important.

Locke & Latham (2002), American Psychologist, 57(9), 705–717

A meta-analysis of 607 feedback effects found that feedback improved performance on average (d = 0.41), but more than one third of feedback interventions reduced performance. Effects became weaker as attention moved away from the task and toward the self.

How this informs UpTicker: UpTicker is designed to focus feedback on actions, routines and progress. A productivity score is information about execution, not a judgement of the user's character.

Kluger & DeNisi (1996), Psychological Bulletin, 119(2), 254–284

In a real-world habit study, time to reach 95% of each participant's automaticity plateau ranged from 18 to 254 days, with a widely reported median of 66 days. Missing one opportunity did not materially affect the habit-formation process.

How this informs UpTicker: UpTicker treats consistency as a long-term process. A 90-day goal can provide a useful planning horizon, but it is not presented as a scientific threshold for forming a habit, and one missed day need not erase longer-term progress.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI daily planner?

An AI daily planner uses context about your goals, priorities and activity to help structure the actions that belong in your day. UpTicker combines this with routines, habits, progress tracking and personalised guidance.

Does UpTicker replace my calendar?

Not necessarily. A calendar is strong at fixed commitments. UpTicker focuses on translating goals into daily execution and measuring whether the important work happened.

Is a packed day considered productive?

No. UpTicker's weighted productivity approach is designed around the value of completed actions, not simply the number of items crossed off.
